Hydrangea serrata 'Bluebird' is a compact, deciduous shrub from the mountain hydrangea group, known for its elegant lacecap blooms. The flat clusters feature tiny, fertile blue or lavender flowers, encircled by larger, showy sterile florets in soft blue or pale lavender. Bloom color varies with soil pH: acidic soils yield blue flowers, while neutral to alkaline soils produce lavender to pink hues. Its green, serrated foliage often takes on attractive reddish tones in the fall. This versatile shrub typically reaches 3–5 ft in height and width, making it a striking addition to any garden.
